 Wellness Exams

We believe that preventive care is important in the health of your pet. Regular exams are a vital part of your pet’s healthcare plan. We recommend all cats and dogs receive a yearly physical exam, though more frequent exams may be preferred depending upon the age of your pet and his or her physical health.

Surgery /  Laser Surgery

It is important that you know that not all hospitals, clinics, and the like treat anesthesia and surgery the same. It can vary from facility to facility, and it is important to know what is being done where. Here at Rahway Veterinarian, we have a thoughtful and comprehensive protocol. In addition to spay and neuters, we also do growth removal, c-section, obstruction, skin tag removal, ear crop, tail dock, unblocking, pyometra, cystotomy, cherry eye correction, and much more!

Radiology

We offer a large array of diagnostic services including, digital x-ray, in-hospital bloodwork, microscopy, and more to ensure accurate diagnosis and monitoring of your pet while they are in our care.

Microchipping

It’s estimated that 1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point in their life. Our hospital uses microchips, which are small rice-sized devices that are placed under your pet’s skin. Once placed, a microchip acts as your pet’s permanent ID storing important information such as your address and phone number. If your pet is lost, any veterinary hospital, animal shelter, or animal control can scan your pet with a microchip reader, and quickly return your pet to you.

Dental Care

Regular dental cleanings are important in maintaining not only your pet’s teeth and gums, but his or her overall health as well. During your pet’s dental cleaning procedure, we perform a comprehensive oral exam including dental charting and dental probing, followed by scaling and polishing. Scaling your pet’s teeth allows plaque buildup to be removed both above and below the gum line. Polishing is important as it creates a smooth tooth surface that is more resistant to future plaque buildup.

Nebulizer Treatments

Our nebulizer treatment is a chamber made of plexiglass and an agitator to deliver medication via nebulizer. This instrument is used for upper respiratory infection and the delivery of oxygen.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are products designed to trigger protective immune responses and prepare the immune system to fight future infections from disease-causing agents. Vaccines stimulate the immune system’s production of antibodies that identify and destroy disease-causing organisms that enter the body.

Why should I vaccinate my pet?
– Vaccinations prevent many pet illnesses.
– Vaccinations can help avoid costly treatments for diseases that can be prevented.
– Vaccinations prevent diseases that can be passed between animals and also from animals to people.
– Diseases prevalent in wildlife, such as rabies and distemper, can infect unvaccinated pets.
– In many areas, local or state ordinances require certain vaccinations of household pets.
